Come along because I want to show you something.
Homemade felt hydrangeas.
To make these, I simply copied Resa Turbo Creative because she makes the most beautiful felt flowers I have ever seen in my life. I want to live in her floral world. 🪻
I am lazy, so I made a SVG template. Let your Cricut do the hard work.
Here is the cutting template:
I ended up using two colors of felt for this. Originally it was out of necessity due to limited supplies, but I love how realistic it makes them look.
When I cut felt, I use the cardstock setting with extra pressure. I know there is a built-in feature with Cricut specifically for cutting felt, but it does way too many passes and I can never keep the felt on the cutting mat.
It’s a sticky summer night on the Cape when you look at these beauties.
Alot. I got the smallest Styrofoam balls I could find, yet somehow I kept finding myself running out of felt. I started enlarging the template in Cricut maker so that I wouldn’t eat up so much felt. Either way you are going to need a lot. Honestly though, if you are making something this beautiful, who cares?
Cut a slit in the middle of each flower. Put floral wire through, then using a dab of hot glue, pinch opposite sides together, in opposite directions. It will not be perfect, but is anything ever? Call me Ina Garten because Jeffrey is out of town and we are making cocktails. It’s summer in the Hamptons courtesy of some hot glue and felt.
