DIY Birthday Cards

I want to show you how to make the most adorable homemade birthday cards.

Using Illustrator I was able turn my vision into reality, and birthday bunny is on the scene.

When you are working with Cricut Design Space, import your illustration as an SVG with no border.

Also, I like to color code with what color card stock I think I will use, but often I change my mind in the moment.

Here is the SVG to import into Cricut Design Space:

Cardstock

Each one comes out a little different because well, they are handmade.

I found out after the first cut that the tiny black eyes and mouth were not going to work, so I ended up hand drawing these elements on with a Sharpie.

Here’s the assembly process I followed:

  • Head – draw eyes and mouth, glue nose
  • Attach head to top of body and fluffy tail to bottom
  • Cake – layer elements starting at the plate and working up to the flame on the birthday candle

Smart Vinyl

There is no other way to do lettering than with Smart Vinyl.

You will need to use transfer tape though, which is where things can get a bit tricky.

Push hard when you are getting it on the tape, and push lightly when transferring onto card stock.

Now let's make some cards.

I love playing with coloring.

Here I made a bunch of different versions that are super bright, colorful, and full of glitter.
